Genre.
Genre dictates the look, feel and pace of a music video. Without it everything thing would look and sounds the same. For example if we looked at a video within the genre of Gangster Rap, you would expect to find exotic locations, Fast cars, expensive jewellery beautiful women etc. Knowing what genre your specifically looking at helps you analyse and understand why particular codes and conventions are featured and used within the particular video. You can then go on to understand whether what your seeing is very typical of the genre or very counter typical. Our Genre isn't really specific as it is more of a crossover of traditional singing song writing with electronic Dub elements. We hope to give a fairly counter typical video using our integral Ipad concept.
Mise En Scene, Editing and Camera.
All three of these things are extremely crucial to a successful music video. Making the video aesthetically pleasing to the viewer and interesting to watch. Costume props etc are integral to portraying the given story in a way that can be easy preserved and viewed but your audience. Editing perhaps one of the most important steps in anything video/film related. Editing the stage at which all your footage must go from nonsensical shots that have no direction, to a perfectly weaved sequence of events that portray a story or event. Camera is the foundation of everything, even with good editing if your foundations are weak so is your film. Getting steady, clever and interesting shots is crucial.
Brief Conclusion / Summary
Even from these small snippets of information i have learnt a great deal of things that will help me identify key areas in which i must work to make my music video the best it can be.
